From building giant puppets and creating theatrical sets to cleaning paintbrushes and producing live events and learning how to run a creative business, our work experience opportunities give you a behind-the-scenes look at the many different careers available in the arts.
You won't just be watching from the sidelines. You'll be part of the team, working alongside artists, theatre-makers, designers, producers and creative professionals to make things happen.
What could you get involved in?
Making, Design & Puppetry
Help create puppets, props, costumes, sculptures and theatrical sets for performances, parades and community events.
Theatre & Live Events
Discover what goes into putting on a show, from rehearsals and backstage roles to technical theatre and live event production.
Festivals & Community Projects
Get involved in bringing public events to life, working on creative installations, parades and activities that bring people together.
Marketing & Creative Business
Explore the business behind the creativity, including social media, event promotion, project planning, fundraising and administration.
Meet YB Creative
YB Creative is our free creative work-experience programme for young people aged 16–25 who want to explore opportunities in the arts and creative industries.
Through hands-on projects, mentoring and teamwork, participants can develop practical skills, build confidence, meet other creatives and discover potential career paths.
Our young creatives have contributed to projects including the Green Parade in Basingstoke, gaining experience of what it takes to turn an idea into a real public event.
We believe that access to creative opportunities shouldn't depend on your background, experience or ability to pay. That's why YB Creative helps young people gain valuable experience and make connections in an industry that can sometimes feel difficult to break into.
